Potlucks are fun!!!!

Thanks to all who came out for our Potluck Wednesday, it was so much fun, we've decided to make them a regular event!

Join us on the third Wednesday of every month at the Westcott Community Center with a dish to pass! These potlucks are a fantastic opportunity to dialog with Management and Directors about how to move our Co-op forward, and a great way to sample the culinary creations of our neighbors.

Hope to see you at the next one!

Local Harvest

There are always a lot of fun things happening around the Co-op this time of year! Our Plant sale was a lot of fun last weekend, Frosty Morning Farm and Black Brook Farm both sold lots of plants to Co-op members. Here's a picture of Karl Frost setting up for the sale. I'm especially glad that our Co-op has local products coming in like crazy. In just the last week, we haveĀ receivedĀ 32 NEW local products, not including produce! This is really exciting stuff for me, because we carry just about 3,100 items at the Co-op, so, we just got 1% more local. We're headed on a really fun journey, I really feel like local, sustainable, deliciously diverse economies are right around the corner. Stay tuned, as all week we will be highlighting a different local product...

We're Having a Party!

Sharing Our Harvest: An evening with Elizabeth Henderson, Local Farmers, and a Co-op Potluck.

Monday, April 21 6:00 PM at Grace Episcopal Church (Parish House)

Elizabeth is a Farmer and Author who has recently updated her classic text on Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Come by with a dish to pass, and you'll get to meet with other local farmers who are offering CSAs this year, as well as your neighbors! We're delighted to be sponsoring this event, and would like to extend thanks to our good friend, the Reverend Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows for hosting the event for us. Grace church is located at 819 Madison street in the City of Syracuse. Can't wait to see you there!

Winter Fun!

Remember to come by the Co-op for coffee talk with our Board President, Gloria! Gloria is in most Saturday afternoons to talk about our coop.

Also, come by Vinomania, 313 E Willow Street, to taste some of our best local and regional cheeses! Matt and Leisha will be there from the coop, stop in and say hello! Oh, there will be a world of great wine to taste, as well...

...did we mention the event is free?

Here we have kumquats, one of the most exciting fruits we get in the winter. Tiny, bite sized jewels, these remarkable fruits boast a sweet rind with a sour pulp. Like an inside out orange, kumquats are a lot of fun to just sit and snack on, although the first time I tried one it was thoroughly disconcerting. Be adventurous!

Taste of Syracuse

Taste of Syracuse + The Syracuse REAL FOOD Co-op = SUMMERTIME FUN!

Jess and Kris were Downtown at the Taste of Syracuse this past weekend selling Organic Hot Dogs from Applegate Farms in the name of the Co-op! We decided to make our tent a summer BBQ theme, and it was a whole lot of fun! Event goers were very excited about eating Grass Fed Beef Organic Hot Dogs and washing them down with Virgil's Root Beer. If you were not there, plan on going next year!
